Who we are

Andrew Cozens CBE has wide experience of leading, shaping and improving social care services across the sector, including strategic policy, operational management and advising senior politicians in central and local government. He is currently working with a range of councils and organisations across the UK.

 

His career spans the statutory and voluntary sectors and he has worked in very senior roles in the North, Midlands, South West and London. Prior to setting up Acainn Ltd in 2012, he was strategic adviser on children's, adults and health services to the Local Government Association and the Improvement and Development Agency.

 

He is a former President of the Association of Directors of Social Services, leading ADSS during the passage of the Children Act and the separation of children's and adults services. He was a founding board member of the National Skills Academy for Social Care.

 

He is currently Chair of the National Development Team for Inclusion and a trustee of MHA. He chaired Carers Trust from 2012-15 and is now its Vice President.

 

He is in demand as an independent improvement, reform, efficiency and policy expert, speaker and columnist on social care and health.

 

Maggie McGrath has extensive experience as a public service transformation and efficiency specialist, with a particular interest in developing and improving children's services. She has extensive experience in developing, improving and managing children's services; health and social care integration; and corporate productivity/efficiency programmes.

 

She is creative and highly regarded, with a rare combination of social care values and business rigour. She is a registered social worker, with qualifications in business, programme and project management.

 

Following a career in local authority children's services, she co-founded Acainn Ltd and has delivered a range of programmes and projects in cities, counties and London Boroughs in England and in a newly established Health and Social Care Partnerships in Scotland.

 

Recently, she has led the programme to establish four Regional Adoption Agencies across London and pan-London collaboration with the provider sector, in addition to other cross-London projects.

 

She developed and delivered a complex Children's Services Transformation Programme for Nottinghamshire.

 

She chaired the board of Ripplez CIC for a number of years, a social enterprise provider of a range of family support services including Family Nurse Partnership, PAUSE and Peer Mentoring..
